Founder and President
Sh. Khawla bint Hamad bin Saif Al-Thani is the president of Between the Lines Productions W.L.L., which is an organization dedicated to the making of quality documentaries and presenting educational programmes.
In 2004 Sh. Khawla wrote her first screenplay for a Parents' Care Centre and a local Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Special Needs.
She then began preparations for writing and directing her first full-scale documentary. This endeavour took over two years, during which she travelled to more than ten countries all over the globe, managing to accumulate numerous rare and original manuscripts dated as far back as the 17th century.
Sh. Khawla holds an LLM/MA (Dissertation Paper on Constitutionalism) with merits in International Law from the University of Westminster (UK). Her research papers include the following topics:
- Women's Rights in International Law.
- Critical examination of the different organs of the United Nations.
- "War Crimes" and what it encompasses in contemporary international humanitarian law.
- Critical examination of the terms of Genocide Convention 1948.
- Critical assessment of the development and effectiveness of international law in combating acts of transnational and international terrorism, with particular reference to the various international conventions and the inability in reaching a consensus on the definition of terrorism.
- Critical examination the Rules governing the acquisition of sovereignty over territory in international law with reference both to relevant case law, and to the report of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee on the Falkland Islands (1985).
Sh. Khawla also publishes articles every now and then in Al-Raai Al-Aam, a prominent Kuwaiti newspaper. She is currently in the process of writing her first book, due to be published in 2008.
